Braving the Winters Snow by Beano Boy

A friend on Benno`s Figure Forum sent Mrs B & i a little package, within it several model figures. So I painted this fellow up,as the Prussian Officer that he rightly is.
________________________Braving the Winters Snow ______________________________

The fresh snow had fallen silently over night, and each roof top and gutter and icicle froze even more solid then before. The windows ,and doorways of each small building were tucked in nicely by this fresh white blanket. Not one pathway or roadway could be seen as the young Prussian Officer left his home.Everywhere looked the perfect cold picture of an untrodden  crisp winter wonderland. Wadding through the snow  knee deep in places he finally reached the old style wooden outbuilding where his sled was stored up for such an occasion as this. He tied a sack onto its back, and set out upon his mission.

It is the first winter since Napoleons defeat, and now that he is tucked away safe out of harms way on Alba, the young Prussian Officer although still in service to one of Bluchers cavalry regiments was inspite  of it home for that first Christmas in many a year.   This is no fool-hardy act of courage, like those of charging Guns upon the battle field of that period in time. No never that. He is on his way to bring  the Seasons Greetings and Gifts, and Good Cheer to the Widows & Children. Those who`s husbands never returned home with his regiment, from the wars. Simple wooden home-made brightly painted Toys a plenty, and perfect packages of treats to eat, all tied  up with dainty coloured string, and all cradled snuggly in the sack fixed firmly tight upon his sled.
Relief for the Poor Widows Son`s____ i_____ and for the Daughters of Eve!
Braving each and every hash winters sloop as more snow falls. His ever downward path outlined perfectly in traced out icy lines. He thinks of his dear Wife, and small children sleeping on in sweet warm slumber as he raced each rise , and fall of such a White as This. He also thinks of his comrades, and their wives and children they had left behind. It is a certainty in any conflict of war, that some Dad`s never come home.

WHOOOOSH! Finally after a few short hours,he arrives at his destination a Tiny Village way up in the mountains wrapped up so in winters harsh embrace.
As he knocks upon the first door of his ,Special Mission ,we must remember that his journey`s  end has not been reached, for he must return home to his Dear Loved Ones. However that perhaps is a story for another Time & Place.   BB
