Collecting Zulu War Figures ________presented by Beano Boy

Hi Guys,i`m not into war gaming, but into in a big way collecting mass formations. I spent Donkeys Years painting Napoleonics, without so much as a day off. Now I mainly collect, and scratch build stuff at my leisure.
i have always wanted to portray one for one figures at Rorke`s  Drift and i have more than enough        British Soldiers now to be able to do that in 1/32 scale figures.                                                     Which are all Beautiful Toy     Figures. This is by far a cheaper option then doing it in 28mm,and 1/72 scale figures are rubber so that too was out of the question. I will need Officers and others which i will fetch in later. The main thing is it is a doable now.

All the Figures can be viewed in detail within my Topic`s  BB`s Toy Figures 9 & 10

With having now 432 Zulus, another 10 boxes will give me 612 which is my aiming point. While making Zulu, they only had 500 Zulu to make the famous Movie.

Taking them off the sprue! I have 360 British Soldiers. I bought in bulk avoided postal charges.           Having 40 of these in the Marching Pose which is great.

105 Soldiers at Rorkes Drift. So eventually over 600 figures will be painted, and i can add more Zulus if and when i like. They will be painted in traditional toy soldier style! Just how i like them.

I will scratch build Rorke`s Drift and its outbuildings too. It will take ages but will be great fun.

This is to confirm that i just bought the remaining boxes of Zulus, and a few extra .The Zulu Army numbers 846. ______________ I also bought lots of brushes, and throughout the collecting i did not pay one Penny in way of Postage.  Which has ment more figures for my money.
This one was a simple quest.    Thanks for Looking.   BB

    1. RMacedo, the figures are magnificent, but because A Call To Arms split up their larger scale figure Sets into half boxes,it made it very hard until now to collect them on a grand scale. All the figures that make up the complete sets are now available for the first time in years to buy. BB

    3. Is it D then? Yes perhaps so.
I have quite a few projects to finish off before painting any of these.i am more of a collector than a painter in my winding down twi-light years. Thank you for your keen interest and kind comment. BB

  3. Hi Russ, they certainly are impressive, and the shields, assegais and that hint in the eyes will be quite eye catching as Zulus on mass attack the compound. Those there at Rorke`s Drift, defending their lives will be awesomely outnumbered by nearly 9 to one.BB

    2. At nearing 67,I have long longed for such a battle scene to be both practical and affordable too,and it is good to be able to share such dreams as this one as it becomes a reality, and not a striving after the wind. There are times in life when such things might seem so. As for now,at this moment i can see it plain as day itself. However it will take a wee while to see this rise upon that Zulu Dawn, but a few to start off with now and again.
To view eventually in full measure that mass against the red of that burning sky.As the Zulus, rise up noisy high on drugs shields raised that glint of first light cast well from assegai and bayonet alike.Uncanny, unstoppable, those deadly advancing piercing warrior horns. That Red facing line seen for the very last time is well prepared, "Present,At 100 Yards.___ Fire!" The volley fire rattles out once more,as Those Men of Harlech make their stand once more. BB

    1. More arrived today Phil, and i expect the complete order to arrive upon the fresh tide of tomorrow. As i have much to do to tidy up, and knock up scratch buildings, and sticking things on where they should be,i cannot paint at this present time even though my stash of excellent affordable brushes have arrived too.I bought expensive ones last year and found out i could not paint with them, they being far too soft. I ended up mixing paint up with them instead. Have Fun BB
