THE SATURDAY EVENING POST of 1932

Always Presented By BB

YOU ARE CERTAINLY MOST WELCOME SO COME ON IN

The main aim was to fashion the pictures into open book covers for Sir Percy's  Library some of which is slowly taking place and space above.
So once again the reduction of plates made for printing them are once more depicted below.
                                                         Art Deco Period Pictures

At that time period indicated above the digging up of King Tut, had taken place in 1922 only ten years before this magazine came out.    So there was still a great interest with front cover design to catch the interest of the average eye passing by.

Only four of each set will be printed out.

Some of these will be flat facing out from the shelves so simply put a plain spine will serve in this slotted in little secret make believe place.

                                                           Large pattern for printing out.

                                                       Medium pattern for printing out.

Small pattern plate for printing out.

My word he does look vain.

The Master sets the type.

Repetition shows the way.

To change a nothing space into something is i believe a well set worthy cause.

Large for the printer.

Medium pattern for printing out.

Small for most of the printing out.

After printing and cutting out the next stage is gluing up the strips of paper card so these can be folded over and stuck firmly into wrap around place.
i must add here that each plate of four will be reduced even more for Sir Percy is quite small.
A hobby is a hobby i do realise, but at times it is a just a shady spot of welcome relief from that insatiable unpredictable heat rumbling along outside.   So today was a jolly good day spent painting scratch built items, and then putting  all this upon the white of a once silent page.

There will always be another few pictures in common domain to place and follow through.

As the Sun slips silently into the golden west.
Stay safe, stay well and help others if you can.
                                                                               BB

POPULAR MECHANICS MAGAZINE to Open Book Covers for Scratch Built Props Presented by BB

As the ships go into battle with guns  booming upon this very old cover page in Public Domain, 'Well it is older than myself and i'm quite ancient at over 75 years of age.' i will copy the picture several times. Make no mistake there is a certain kind of madness in this repetitive process.  To begin with i needed  two cover pictures and the title of this mag.

So now i had the spine of my open book cover.

By being arts and crafty i was able to forge ahead at full sail and make the Master for copying.

There will be two sizes upon an old heavily worn shelving unit. both are below.

      Medium   Size

Small size

A dozen for Sir Percy's Library will be more than enough to shuffle around.
Mine will be much smaller then those above.

who cares dares

A Beautiful Picture to Open Book Cover presented by BB

Picture in Public Domain

Once upon a time from the devious howling scheming East ,Covid19 struck the entire Earth
Here in the United Kingdom a lock-down, just one of many was enforced by the State.
As it severely ravaged all lands far and wide including the one it came from,i began to scratch build    my library for Sir Percy Nots Niville an explorer of strange new worlds.Time Traveler.

Percy's library began to formulate itself as i wrote of him and my first novel had long ago                        appeared in codex printed form so i had the idea to collect books for his mysterious shelving system.
A pleasant pass-time thing i began to craft from paper card over four years ago.
Now it began as a whim to make open book covers that in turn were cut out and stuck fast onto the very same paper that the shelving units were still being made from.

This compulsive endeavour, disorder many might say.
slowly turned out volumes of printed out props for the project ahead of  me, and so i soldiered onwards and saved so much money by not buying other stuff,i could redirect it elsewhere for a better use.
It is the craft you see?
Today i made the open book cover from a very old copy of WOMAN'S HOME COMPANION copied on    line.   Pinterest is full to over-fIowing  with them.

           First

The beautiful cover picture was copied on my PC,and highlighted to recover the colour that was nearly faded out from age..

                                                                           Second

Then i copied the title from across the top of the picture ,in order to form the sleeve of each  printed out.one that i would print out later.

As time passed it helped me formulate my books...
i therefore decided to have the sleeve between two pictures.

A reduction of six for printing out.

                                                           A larger reduction of four.

                                                                                  Third

Developing the Arts & Craft  in others with very little cost what so ever. .
There are thousands of pictures on line guys so there is no dire need to copy mine.

Nearly every home here  about's in the United Kingdom many have PC's and                                              printers... And paper is pretty cheap.Children like making things and at 75 years of                                aged progression i'm glad that i am still one at heart.

i used the first, second and third to align one book cover, then copied it..
For Sir Percy's Library i will print out just Ten.
i have made well over 28,000 in my prolonged adventure
In fact the library has gotten so large poor sir Percy, got lost in it,..
But that's a story for a much later time.

Thank u kindly 4 your visit i hope u have had some fun.  BB

JENNINGS SCHOOL DAYS 1950's ... Open Book Covers presented by BB

for-word

It was one of those hum drum casual days of relative ease and it saw me humming away as i sipped my early morning coffee which by the way was made with milk. Well that's the way i sometimes like it.
Far gone are the days of my far away military use, and the rationed hot water in that strong dark coffee, or sweet tea us 'British Grunt's' got used to in the end.    As that Sunday morning skipped along the old wind up clock tried hard to keep up the pace, and i,m sure it missed a few seconds from every minute  but i cared little for it because of it being much older than myself.

The day its self being an unusual Sunday was without a Meeting on Zoom, for it was a certain fact we had, had  one on the Saturday before it so i gathered the free space up; and began typing this simple but  short viewed  topic based upon the books on shuffled presentation here.

It being my aim to print these tiny books out for my hobby  come lately  very old and dusty Library, a scratch build of cut to size fantasy on my part because there is no such building but there are shelving units of the oddest of archway display against invisible walls that stand likewise without real floors beneath them.  i,,, guess all in all, it is just a bright eyed figment of my own shaping imagination? Well at 75 i am very glad i still have one.

Take yourself a stroll down this avenue of 'COLLINS' open book covers.

                                                                Final printing plate above.

                                                               Final printing plate above.

                                                              Final printing plate above.

                                                              Final printing plate above.

The folds in the middle spine are easily seen.

                                                            Final printing plate above.

Often, quite often the library sleeps in the deepest shadows it has sealed up tight.

                                                              Final printing plate above.

                                                                            ' scratch built '

Painting the archway shelving system is still ongoing,,, but like always i am awaiting delivery of a bucket  full of acrylic paint. It dries quicker than other coloured stuff one might well buy.

Thank you all for your visit... feel free to comment, i have no teeth so cannot bite!  BB

Jesus Memorial 2024

Jesus Memorial 2024

( Bible, John 3: verse 16.)

'For God loved the world so much that he gave his only-begotten Son,
so that everyone exercising faith in him might not be destroyed
                but have everlasting life.'

Of course this is referring to the world of mankind.

World Wide, the carefully prepared symbolic emblems for the * Memorial *,will be passed along by hand to hand to all there in attendance during all these special meetings.

Jesus, with  his last dying breath, bowed his head and surrendered his life.

(Mark 15: 37; Luke 23:46; John 10:18;19: 30) Truly it was such an humiliating way to die.

The Memorial date this year for the Passover is on March 24th 2024 after Sunset.
There is most certainly always a full moon.

If there is a Kingdom Hall of Jehovah Witnesses near where you live, you too and your family are warmly invited to attend free of charge, there being no collections taken place.

Stay safe, stay well and help others if you can. Respectfully Paul Howes
