My Old Style Water Wheel.................. presented by BB

A bit of a jumble one will see. but do stay for a little look see?

To make more than one wheel i had to find square and then mark it out as can be seen above.

Showing the inside of each wheel.

Showing the supports and the lengths of scribed out card needed on this scratch built wheel.

Cutting out the template.

Each had been drawn out using the template, and here shows them glued into place on the paper card,so each one will be doubled up in thickness and will be very strong and not flimsy at all.

The drum roll marked and cut out, then scribed using an empty pen awaits their fixing into place time.

Each side of each wheel was scribed out with a wood effect pattern.

A wooden spindle.

The Template used saves so much time in each production line of making the wheels.

The pin holds it into place and also marks each centre which was an important a thing to do.

Showing other aspects of making the template.

                                                                 The centre point of spin.

                                                                     Fixing the paddles.

The drum is stuck into place resting upon the inner spindles.
The spindle was stuck into place.

Importantly the inside was painted first before the other side of the wheel was glued into                             place.

So the wheel is constructed by sliding the other side down the spindle

An end bracket was spun into place to complete the wheel fixed into place.

Just a paper card toy,but it does turn upon its pivot just like the real ones do.

A sand box helps support them during the drying out time.

On this wheel the spindle is about to be pushed right through the first wheel.

A spun on fixing bracket and end spindle.

Three paper wheels were scratch built and each differed slightly in design from the others. BB
